Wioletta Chodowicz
Wioletta Chodowicz is a Polish soprano opera singer. Her many awards and distinctions include the Wroclaw Musical Prize for the Artistic Personality of the Year (for her artistic achievements in season 2005/2006) and The Passport of the weekly Polityka (2010). She made her debut in Poznan’s Teatr Wielki in 2002 as Contessa Le Nozze di Figaro. In 2003 – 2008 she was a soloist of the State Opera in Wroclaw. The title role in Moniuszko Halka was Ms. Chodowicz’s debut at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw (November 2004).
Ms. Chodowicz is equally at home on the concert platform, and her repertoire includes Fauré's Requiem, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Bruckner's Te Deum, and Verdi's Requiem. She has appeared at many music festivals including the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, the Festival of Young Laureates of Music Competitions in Katowice, Musica Polonica Nova in Wroclaw. She sang Szymanowski's Symphony No. 3: Song of the Night for the Beethoven Festival in Warsaw, Gorecki Symphony No. 3 at Young Euro Classic Music Festival in Berlin and Mahler Symphony No. 2 with the Warsaw Philharmonic and Poznan Philharmonic, Das Klagende Lied with Katowice NOSPR and Wroclaw Philharmonic. In 2011 she performed the solo part in the world premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki's Songs of Reverie and Nostalgia for soprano, mezzo, baritone and orchestra with Sinfonia Varsovia under Valery Gergiev. Ms. Chodowicz’s recordings include R. Statkowski’s Maria with Polish Radio Orchestra, Verdi’s Giovanna D’Arco with Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, Szymanowski’s Hagith with Wroclaw State Opera, Paderewski Manru with Opera Nova Bydgoszcz.
