We dreamed of nothing but enlightenment

The exhibition We dreamed of nothing but enlightenment shows the life of Moses Mendelssohn (1729-1786) in Berlin, where he was an integrating figure of polarizing forces in the midst of a time of change and upheaval.

Moses Mendelssohn was an Enlightenment thinker, a self-made intellectual and a European celebrity even in his own time. To this day, he remains a central figure in German Jewry.
