Warszawska Orkiestra Sentymentalna
The Warsaw Sentimental Orchestra will take Warsaw's Hybrydy a century back in time.
The Warsaw Sentimental Orchestra is an ensemble with a taste for the old melodies of Polish pre-war revue and cabaret. Songs from the repertoire of Adam Aston, Wiera Gran or Mieczysław Fogg, arrangements by Henryk Wars and Rostworowski, performances by the Gold and Petersburski, Karasiński and Kataszek orchestras constantly inspire them. Waltzes, tangos, foxtrots, rumba and slow-foxes—the Orchestra selects the best of the riches of the stage and screen of the silent era and brings them to life with a contemporary musical sensibility, preserving the style and timeless charm of the old melodies. The music of the time is reminiscent of American popular music, yet embedded in the unique and lush culture of the Polish twenties. Its unique finesse and energy was blowing up dance floors a century ago—and is blowing them up now.
