Vila K

Villa K or the House of the Kollmanns is an important architectural work of Slovak functionalism. In 1934, it was designed by architect Oskar Singer and built by the builder Alfred Tomaschek for the couple Fritz and Etla Kollmann.

The house is exceptional for its aerodynamic corner and boat design. The position of part of the house on pillars is also interesting. However, the arcade was built in 1937. The architect was inspired by the principles formulated by the founder of functionalism, Le Corbusier. It is also worth mentioning the custom-made furniture, which was captured in the photos together with the house by the well-known photographer of modern architecture Rudolf Sandalo.
