Václav Havelka
Václav Havelka is a Czech musician and singer/songwriter.
He is also known under his stage name selFbrush and as the leader of Please The Trees. His discography contains several studio albums recorded in the Czech Republic and abroad. He has cooperated with other artists, such as Ecstasy of Saint Theresa and others. Havelka is the author of the musical score for several plays in the Stavovské, Dejvické and Na zábradlí theaters; he also gives concerts throughout Europe and the USA.
During his long musical career, Václav Havelka has repeatedly dealt with the topic of nature conservation. Through his interdisciplinary project Landscapes of the Future, he has explored climate change through sound. With his band Please The Trees, he reflects on ecological themes, including through activities such as planting trees at concert venues. With the Wilderness Sumava initiative, he has been involved in the protection of wildlife in the Sumava National Park. He also combines his passion for nature conservation with international musicians in the Sonic Herbalism project.
