This year's American Spring festival opens at DOX⁺ on May 10 with Uri Caine performing with the Moravian Phiharmonic under the baton of Steven Mercurie. The concert will feature the world premiere of Nein!, which Caine composed in 2020 to mark the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth. Also on the programme will be Caine's Diabelli Variations in a Czech premiere, as well as other of his works alongside those of American experimental composer John Zorn. Uri Caine came to prominence in the 90s when, as the curator of the Venice bienale, he bravely re-worked Verdi's Othello. He later established himself on the New York downtown scene and aligned himself with the circle of experimental musicians from the Knitting Factory. This concert is presented in co-production with Prague Music Performance.
