Uniform

In less than a decade, NYC outfit Uniform have become one of the modern faces of the industrial movement. The trio’s work ethic is tireless: since 2015, Uniform have released four full-lengths, and two studio collaborations (plus one live album) with sludge deviants The Body, all while maintaining a prolific touring schedule. Shame, the band’s 2020 full-length, is a brooding examination of exactly what the title suggests. At times, like on Life in Remission, Uniform are jagged and in your face, haphazardly unleashing a storm of noisy electronics and distorted guitars. Other songs, like the title track, are driven by steady percussion and spacey chords that give vocalist Michael Berdan ample room to half-chant/half-sing his self-flagellating lyrics.
