Ugly Kid Joe
Ugly Kid Joe is an American rock band formed in 1989 in Isla Vista, California. The founding members were vocalist Whitfield Crane and guitarist Klaus Eichstadt. Their musical style combines elements of hard rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock. The band gained widespread attention in the early 1990s with the success of the single Everything About You, which appeared on their debut EP As Ugly as They Wanna Be (1991). The EP became the first debut extended play to receive a platinum certification in the United States.
This was followed by their first full-length studio album, America’s Least Wanted (1992), which included other successful tracks such as Neighbor and a cover version of Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. In 1995, they released the album Menace to Sobriety, followed two years later by Motel California (1996), both continuing their rock-oriented direction with varying degrees of commercial success.
The band disbanded in 1997. They reunited in 2010 and have been touring and recording since then. In 2015, they released the comeback album Uglier Than They Used to Be, followed by Rad Wings of Destiny in 2022.
