Treatment of remembering
Sabina Bočková, Johana Pocková, Inga Zotova-Mikshina
Imagine you are breathing.
Three performers undergo the Treatment of Remembering together with the audience in a time when nature, consumed by humanity, no longer exists.
In poetic dance paintings, they fall into a state of remembering nature in emptied space-time. Through the artificial imitation of the world, which has pushed out the real world, they point to the ever-increasing replacement of the natural environment with the artificial products of human activity. By awakening memories of long-forgotten experiences, the Treatment of Remembering procedure draws attention to the uniqueness of physical and emotional experiences connected with nature. The sensitivity of sound design and original music, together with extreme light atmospheres, enhance the intensity of sensory perception and thus complement a work filled with a constant vibration of origin and extinction. But strong concerns emerge from the artificially created atmospheres of calm, encouraging the viewer to reflect on their relationship with the environment.
Pocketart is an association of four choreographers and performers working in contemporary dance and physical theatre. Their work is defined by its emphasis on engagement with issues currently impacting society, from the fatal threat posed by the global climate crisis, to media manipulation, the stress of the competitive environment or intergenerational views on womanhood. PocketArt’s performances are regularly presented in the Czech Republic and abroad. Founder Johana Pocková studied at the Peridance Capezio Centre (New York) and the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance after completing her studies at the Duncan Centre conservatoire in Prague and currently creates original choreography and performance work. In 2017, she received the Jarmila Jeřábková Award for her choreography for the performance Vražda! Malá komiksová historie (Murder! A Little Comics History).
