Tomasz Gwinciński

Tomasz Gwinciński is a guitarist, drummer and composer born in Bydgoszcz in 1963. He studied medicine and philosophy, and then composition with Bogusław Schaeffer. He is one of the founders of the so-called yass scene. In 1990 he founded the band Trytony, whose first album Fri Tańce Bydgoskie was an unusual mix of improvised music based on artists such as Eric Dolphy-John Coltrane-Ornette Coleman and the tradition of twentieth-century classical music (eg Bela Bartok). Gwinciński collaborated with such musicians as Ryszard "Tymon" Tymański, Mikołaj Trzaska and Kazik Staszewski. You can hear him on the cult album Rozmowy s catem recorded with Kazik and Mazzoll & Arhythmic Perfection. He often plays with bands like Gwinciński / Richter / Skolik, Łoskot or Mazzoll & Arhythmic Perfection. Gwinciński is also a producer and creator of theater music.
