About Tomáš Hobzek Quartet
Ambitious, creative band drummer Tomas Hobzek. The beginning started in April 2008 concert in Prague jazz club The Old Lady, where he guest guitarist David Dorůžka a New York pianist Dan Tepfer, whom he met Thomas during his stay in New York.
In a short time the band settled in its composition, besides Thomas plays the saxophone Marcel Barta, known mainly from the Vertigo Quintet, pianist Křišťan Vitek, a student jazz department of the University in Katowice, Poland, and also a member of the Quintet John Pribyl, and bassist Tomas Liska, acting as the trio of David Dorůžka, the trio and Matthew Benko Quintet, Points in the band and others.
Quartet music can be described as fresh, modern jazz, respecting their role models from history, such as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, or Theolonius Monk, and very open, communicative, nebránící the directions of contemporary music.
