Silas Siakor is a prototype of a modern activist. Using digital technology, he fights against multinational corporations who are more interested in massive mining operations in Liberia than the lives of poor farmers. "There are capable politicians, good schools and hospitals all over the world, so why not in Liberia?" asks Silas Siakor. In his country he has become a symbol of the struggle to change the pervasive corruption of the system. Together with other activists using the TIMBY mobile app, he records illegal logging, land grabbing, official fraud and corruption. Silas's Sustainable Development Institute cannot even rely on the country's world-famous president, Nobel Peace Prize winner Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He has discovered that the millions of dollars earmarked for development aid are going into her relatives' pockets. But Silas never gives up. He is driven by the vision of a better future in a country recovering from a quarter-century of war and an Ebola epidemic.
