Jaromír Nohavica
Jaromír Nohavica (born 7 June 1953 in Ostrava) is a Czech folk singer, songwriter, lyricist, librettist, singer, composer and guitarist. He also plays the heligonka – a diatonic button accordion.
Jaromír or Jarek Nohavica is without any doubt one of the legends of Czech folk music and many of his songs have become almost popular. He was the first Czech singer-songwriter to win the Premio Tenco award, which is presented annually at the Festival of Original Songs in San Remo, Italy. He is thus among the performers who have been selected for this prize, including Jacques Brel, Donovan, Nick Cave, Bulat Okudzhava and Leonard Cohen.
