Crystal Fighters

Combining Basque folk instruments with dubby drum loops, heavy synths, and lilting vocals, the English-Spanish alt dance group Crystal Fighters formed after singer Laure Stockley recovered a diary of her deceased reclusive grandfather's while visiting his Basque country home. Inside his notebook was the skeleton of an incomplete opera, with what would become the future band's name as its title. Signing to indietronica staple Kitsuné in 2009, they released two successful singles there before debuting with the self-released 2010 LP Star of Love, based on Stockley's grandfather's opera. They've since become a festival circuit mainstay and released four more albums, the latest of which is 2019's Gaia and Friends,
