He looks and acts a bit like a cartoon character. Incidentally, he was one in a short series of animated videos entitled Sons of Northern Darkness. Although he is a legend and a cult figure in the black metal scene, he has quite a distance from himself and a great sense of humor. When the paths of Abbath and the iconic Immortal parted in 2015 many fans around the world were inconsolable that this was the end of one of the most important black metal bands in the history of the genre. However, it turned out that Olve Eikemo, as the Bergen-based musician's real name is, could afford to do more than just pay tribute to Motörhead with his act Bömbers. The Norwegian quickly assembled a lineup that included Gorgoroth bassist King Ov Hell, among others, and later recorded a warmly received eponymous album as Abbath. He has since followed it up with two LPs, his latest being 2022's Dread Reaver.
