Therapy?
The alternative rock band Therapy? was formed in 1989 in Larne, Northern Ireland, embarking on an unusual career arc that combined major label appeal with decidedly indie sensibilities. After debuting with the noisy, Big Black-influenced Nurse in 1992, they became prominent after the release of the more streamlined 1993 EP Shortsharpshock, which foreshadowed a lot of the angsty alt metal that was to come in the following decade and scored them opening spots on tours for grunge era mainstays like Helmet and The Jesus Lizard. Over the following years, they resolutely moved in a more radio-friendly direction, straying occasionally for critically acclaimed return-to-the-roots detours like 2009's Crooked Timber and 2012's A Brief Crack of Light. The latest of their 16 studio albums, Hard Cold Fire, was released in 2023.
