Staatsballett Berlin
Staatsballett Berlin was formed on January 1st, 2004, by combining the dance ensembles of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Komische Oper Berlin. With 81 dancers from 30 nations, it is the largest ballet company in Germany. Vladimir Malakhov was artistic director from 2004 to 2014, followed by the Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato from 2014 to 2018. In the 2018/2019 season Johannes Öhman took over as artistic director, as well as for the 2019/2020 season together with Sasha Waltz as co-director. Since August 2020, Christiane Theobald has taken over the artistic directorship of the Berlin State Ballet.
