The Pineapple Thief
Pineapple Thief, led by founder and frontman Bruce Soord, is a British prog rock band.
Their music is often compared to Muse and Porcupine Tree, but that generalization fails to describe their ever-evolving sound, which deftly balances between sophisticated indie pop, theatrical rock, 21st century prog, textured electroacoustic ambience and neo-psychedelia.
While earlier recordings like Variations on a Dream somewhat justified comparisons to other genre-spanning bands, later recordings like 2008's Tightly Unwound showcased increasingly expansive pop songwriting that featured sophisticated arrangements and advanced instrumental prowess. With 2014's Magnolia, Pineapple Thief began releasing concept albums with catchy, episodic songs. The following year, King Crimson drummer Gavin Harrison joined them as a permanent member on Your Wilderness. Their fifteenth and final album to date, It Leads to This, was released in 2024.
