The Jerry Cans
Country, Rock | The Jerry Cans come from the Arctic region in northern Canada, from Nunavut. They want to serve everything, just no clichés about Inuit culture and life in the far north. Their last album, Inuusiq (Leben), released in 2017, combines indie rock, reggae and country noir, but also content from the Inuit language Inuktitut and traditional throat singing. But their biggest inspiration is life itself and the sounds around them. Like no other band, The Jerry Cans stand for how lively roots rock and native music are in Canada. The Jerry Cans don't produce remixes or mashups. They draw deeply from the Inuit poetry tradition, where singing and stories are inextricably interwoven with everyday life.
