The Chats
The Chats is an Australian punk rock band formed in 2016 in Queensland. The band consists of singer and bassist Eamon Sandwith, drummer Matt Boggis, and guitarist Josh Hardy. The band made a name for themselves on the international scene primarily thanks to their 2017 single Smoko, which went viral on social media and streaming platforms. In their music, The Chats combine garage punk, pub rock, and punk rock, and they describe their style as “shed rock”.
The release of their first EPs was followed by their debut album High Risk Behaviour in 2020, which was followed by the album Get Fucked, released in 2022 via their own label, Bargain Bin Records. The band’s well-known songs include Pub Feed, The Clap, 6L GTR, Struck By Lightning, and I’ve Been Drunk in Every Pub in Brisbane.
The band’s current activities include a concert tour in the U.S. and Europe in 2026, alongside The Hives, among others, and festival appearances, including Coachella 2026.
