About Tereza Balonová
Tereza Balonova, author, singer and guitarist. Tereza Balonová, a young singer-songwriter, showed her versatile talent to the domestic audience in 2018. Then, she shone as a guest on the tour of the band Jelen - alone with only a guitar and a looper, following the example of her favourite Ed Sheeran, she stood in front of a sold-out hall at the Forum Karlín in Prague. Despite being a young adult, she presented herself as a mature singer.
Since then, she has played hundreds of shows across the country. She has been invited to perform with bands such as Mirai and Divokej Bill, and has also been approached by David Koller, Ewa Farna and the singer-songwriter Pokáč, with whom she toured. In 2019, she hinted at her potential with the four-song EP Zhasni den. Her debut album Půlnoc followed in 2022.
Currently, in 2023, Tereza is performing with her new backing band. Completely unprejudiced, together they blend the Czech songwriting tradition with the sound of today's popular music. They offer strong melodies, folk-like believable lyrics and rock moments that cross the boundaries between genres.
“When my parents took me to a Metallica concert at the age of eight, it was such a powerful experience for me that I immediately knew what I wanted to do,” recalls the talented musician. But the performance of the folk band Čechomor had a similarly significant effect on her. “I ran away from my dad and mom into the front row, where I was looking under the musicians’ feet to see what they were doing. I wanted to be able to do it too,” laughs Balonová.
