What is a sloping slide? Where did the beach slipper come from? Why is there an oriental bar in a volcano?
As part of the A-Z series, Andrzej Tobis takes photographs in Poland and assigns them to successive entries in a 1954 German-Polish dictionary. Many of these photographs depict strange or unobvious situations. During the meeting there will be an opportunity to ask the artist questions and learn the secrets of the A-Z series. The organizers encourage you to browse the works from the series (e.g. those available on Zachęta’s website or those collected on the artist’s Instagram) and to ask questions about specific photographs and their contexts. They also encourage people to submit questions in advance via the submission form – this will facilitate the moderation of the meeting.
