Švandovo Theatre

The Švandovo Theatre, located in the immediate vicinity of Arbes Square, has two theatre halls. A large one with a capacity for about 300 spectators and a smaller basement one for 50 to 100 spectators. The theatre also has an equipped rehearsal room with accessories and a professional recording studio. The repertoire of the Švandovo Theatre consists of productions of the permanent drama ensemble, but you can also see other guest theatre companies (Buchty a loutky, Dětské divadelní studio, Divadlo Spektákl, Just! Impro, Mime Prague – Radim Vizváry), and not only from Prague.

Among the important activities of the theatre are also programmes for children and youth. Equally important is the effort to develop international cooperation more intensively and to create projects with foreign partner theatres and their personalities. The theatre organises a number of workshops for the public, is dedicated to actor training within the Actor's Studio and is also the first Prague theatre to present performances with Czech subtitles for the deaf.
