Steve Von Till
Steve Von Till is an American musician, poet, and educator. Since 1989, he has been a member of the band Neurosis, where he performs as a guitarist and vocalist. Since 2019, he has held the role of the band's lead vocalist. Neurosis is classified within the post-metal and experimental genres, incorporating elements of hardcore, ambient, and industrial music.
Since the late 1990s, Von Till has also pursued a solo career, which stylistically differs from his work with Neurosis. His solo albums combine elements of acoustic music, Americana, and ambient textures. Notable solo releases include A Grave Is a Grim Horse (2008), No Wilderness Deep Enough (2020), and A Deep Voiceless Wilderness (2021). The album Alone In A World Of Wounds is scheduled for release in May 2025.
Under the name Harvestman, Von Till creates projects focused on experimental and electronic music. In 2024, he released the three-album series Triptych, which was issued over the course of three consecutive full moons and involved collaborations with several guest artists.
In 2020, he published a poetry collection titled Harvestman: 23 Untitled Poems and Collected Lyrics. In addition to his artistic work, Von Till is employed as an elementary school teacher in northern Idaho. He is also active in the nonprofit organization Firekeeper Alliance, which focuses on mental health prevention among Indigenous youth in the United States.
