About Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks is an American rock band from Portland, which consists of Stephen Malkmus, Mike Clark, Joanna Bolme and Jake Morris and was founded in 2000. Frontman Malkmus was previously a songwriter, singer and guitarist for Pavement, one of the most influential indie rock bands of the 1990s.
After Stephen Malkmus left Pavement in 1999, he founded the Jicks, along with Joanna Bolme, Mike Clark and John Moen that later turned into Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. The band’s debut album, Stephen Malkmus, was released on February 13, 2001. Some of the songs were written by Malkmus during his time with Pavement. The second album of the band Pig Lib was released in 2003. Meanwhile, the band has released a total of seven studio albums. Both the cast and style of the band made some changes during this time.
