State of Emergency

Karel Beran, a radio correspondent in the Middle East, arrives privately in Prague on the basis of an anonymous tip. At the same time, however, a revolution breaks out in Kambur, which he left unprofessionally. Being given reporter duties forces the seasoned professional into hoax reporting, simulating the turmoil of the Arab revolution on kitchen appliances in a Vineyard apartment. But torn between solving a personal problem and his duty to inform his audience, he gets caught in his own trap. When, on the basis of high-profile stories, Czech Radio decides to send a support team after the correspondent, he finds himself faced with an unsolvable choice: either admit to media deception or fake his own death.
