Soulfly
Soulfly is a Brazilian-American metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1997, and later based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. Soulfly's early work was heavily anchored in the then-popular sound of nu metal; over time, their ouvre has grown to include influences from groove, thrash and death metal, as well as traditional music from all over the world, much like Sepultura. The original lyrical content revolved around spirituality, political and religious themes, with later albums encompassing other themes including war, violence, aggression, slavery, hatred and anger. Their discography currently comprises twelve studio albums; the most recent one, Totem, was released in 2022.
