Sommerkonzerte Can Olgun + Special Guests

Having grown up in the Berlin jazz scene, after completing his studies at the UdK, the pianist moved to New York to study with Jason Moran at the Manhattan School of Music. Can Olgun was one of only twelve pianists in the world to be invited to the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition to perform in Washington, DC, in front of a jury consisting of Herbie Hancock, Danilo Perez, Ellis Marsalis and other jazz piano greats. Can is not only an active member of the New York jazz scene, but also a member of various international acting formations, with which he is heard on various CD recordings. For the A-Trane summer week Can Olgun brings his New York trio to Berlin, which will invite an international guest star every evening. Thus, Cans compositions, which are characterized by catchy melodies, harmonious color richness and concise rhythms and grooves, will be each interpreted in different ways. Desmond White is on bass, and Jochen Rueckert on drums. On 31.08., as well as on 01.09. the trio is accompanied by Johannes Enders on the saxophone.
