Smíchov Lock
The Smíchov Lock is a water stage on the Vltava River in the central part of Prague. It consists of two historically much older weirs, Šítkovský and Staroměstský, and a set of locks. It is one of Prague's locks, preceded by the Modřany lock, followed by the Štvanice lock and the Troja-Podbaba lock. The Smíchov lock acquired its present form in 1911-1922, when the locks were built by František Schön and sons according to the project of F. Sandro; at the same time a part of the Petržilkovský island was removed. The operator is the state enterprise Povodí Vltavy.
