Sketches on a nervous planet
T. Weber, L. Netopilová
The odds of a nuclear catastrophe occurring are the highest today since 1947. A farce about how (not) to go crazy on a planet that’s already mad. Based on Matt Haig’s book Notes on a Nervous Planet.
Put on your own oxygen mask first and only then help others.
The performance Sketches on a Nervous Planet is loosely based on the book Notes on a Nervous Planet and focuses on mental health, more specifically on “how to stay sane on a planet that’s driving us crazy”. Notes on a Nervous Planet is a series of essays examining the author’s personal experience with anxiety and modernity (and the web of connections in between them), but also his search for his own philosophical conclusion in today’s world. The performance aims to present the author’s thoughts on the stage and to clash them with our everyday reality using sketch comedy scenes.
About the project
This project emerged in 2022 as an icebreaker performance of this year’s alumni at the dramaturgy, direction and acting department at Janáček Academy of Performing Arts.
