Short Waves Festival 2021

Short Waves Festival is a network of film events dispersed in the urban space of Poznan. At their core are competition screenings – sets of short films covering five categories: International Competition, Polish Competition, Dances with Camera, Urban View and Polish Experimental Film Competition. The Festival also presents non-obvious thematic strands such as Comedy, Horror or Kinky Shorts, a focus programme (including a geographical focus – in 2021 presenting the cinematography of Austria), an industry segment, audiovisual and music events, and going beyond the cinema hall: open-air events, clubs, screenings in art galleries, theater halls or private gardens of Poznań inhabitants under the banner of Random Garden Cinema. Thanks to the continuation of the new hybrid formula introduced in 2020, the seven days of June will feature events and films taking place simultaneously offline, in Poznan, and online on the platform "This Is Short":www.thisisshort.com created together with Vienna Short, Go Short and Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen. The festival will open with the Kino Forma event, which returns with a headliner in the form of Frank Bretschneider, a Berlin-based video-art and music artist.
