Shahin Najafi
Shahin Najafi is an Iranian musician, singer, actor, songwriter and political activist currently residing in Germany. Najafi's songs mostly deal with issues such as theocracy, poverty, sexism, censorship, child labor, execution, drug addiction and homophobia. In interviews, he has stated that he strives to use poetic, literary, philosophical and political elements in his music.
His musicstyle combines playful elements of rock, rap, classical music, but especially jazz with old Persian poetry and traditional folk songs from northern Persia. Najafi plays concerts worldwide, also regularly in Europe and the USA and Canada. His new album Dritte Art (Third type) is a collection of form-diverse and new sounds of the Iranian music scene.
