About Russell E. L. Butler
Russell Butler has been making waves in the Bay Area music scene for several years. Butler's project Black Jeans evokes the emotional and physical qualities of minimal synth and electronic body music to transport listeners to hidden and forgotten soundscapes.
Over the past few years Russell has been making unique, raw, machine techno that evolves with each successful release. Transplantation, evolution, and healing are all important themes in Russell Butler's music, with Russell's 2015 album God Is Change based on Octavia Butler's novel series Parable, which also focuses on these themes. In 2016, Russell released Visions of the Future on Jacktone Records, a collection of improvised moduar synthesizer sessions. A month later, the follow-up to God is Change, The First Step, was released on Black Opal.
