Roman Widaszek

Roman Widaszek is a clarinetist who graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Katowice in the class of Professor H. Kierski. He has developed his skills at many masterclasses given, among others, by Prof. Guy Deplus and Prof. Michael Arrignon. He won 2nd prize at the 1st National Clarinet Festival in Piotrków Trybunalski and 3rd prize at the National Composition Competition in Bielsko-Biała. He received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and Art. He has been awarded the Bronze Cross for his contribution to the dissemination of musical culture. His lively artistic activity has resulted in many solo and chamber concerts, performing with such artists and ensembles as Sharon Kam, Antonio Saiote, Dimitri Ashkenazy, Silesian Quartet, Hilliard Ensemble, among others. He has performed as soloist with most Polish orchestras, including the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Philharmonic of Kraków, Wrocław, Poznań, the Sinfonietta Cracovia, AUKSO, AMADEUS Polish Radio Orchestra, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, performing works by Stamitz, Mozart, Weber, Kurpiński and Lutosławski. He also performs as a soloist-cameralist at many concerts and festivals in Poland and abroad.
