Rodrigo Y Gabriela
Rodrigo y Gabriela is a Mexican acoustic guitar duo consisting of Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero. Both musicians are from Mexico City, where they got their start on the rock and metal scene. In the late 1990s, they moved to Ireland, where they began performing as an instrumental duo. Their music blends acoustic guitar with elements of flamenco, Latin American music, rock, and metal. They gained international attention following the release of their self-titled album Rodrigo y Gabriela in 2006, which featured original compositions as well as instrumental covers of songs by Led Zeppelin and Metallica.
In the following years, they released the albums 11:11 (2009), Area 52 (2012), 9 Dead Alive (2014), Mettavolution (2019), and In Between Thoughts... A New World (2023). The album Mettavolution won a Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category. Throughout their career, the duo has toured worldwide and performed at numerous international festivals and prestigious concert venues.
In 2026, Rodrigo y Gabriela will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of their breakthrough album Rodrigo y Gabriela with an anniversary reissue featuring the archival recording Re-Foc.
