Resursa Obywatelska

Resursa Obywatelska is the oldest cultural institution in Radom, operating since 1829. Its name, derived from French, indicates that from the very beginning it functioned as a social club, bringing together local residents, including merchants and landowners. The current Resursa was founded in 1852 on the initiative of the Welfare Council of the Radom County Charitable Establishments, and the income from its activities was intended to support the St Casimir's Hospital located next door. Since its inception, the establishment has played a leading role in the cultural life of the city. For many decades, a theatre operated within the walls of Resursa. The cultural and educational activities of our establishment have always been strongly rooted in patriotism. Civic balls were often organised here, the proceeds from which were donated to charity. It also hosted numerous poetry evenings, celebrations of important anniversaries and holidays, and lectures on national history. After World War II, Resursa initially housed a cultural and educational centre, and later two cinemas - "Przyjaźń" and "Pokolenie" - operated. In 1991, the Provincial House of Culture found its seat in the Resursa building. Since 1999, it has been operating under the name of the 'Resursa Obywatelska' Centre for Culture and the Arts, continuing the glorious tradition of cultural animation in the city for over a century and a half.
