Rat Kru balance between art and kitsch, sometimes crossing the boundaries of both. Hiding behind a rat mask, Rat One (also known as Witek or Wódek) is responsible for the music layer, while Winogradzki Lew, also known for his solo music and poetry, paints fragments of reality in lyrics that stimulate the imagination. They describe their music as concrete samba, sowing scandal and making people dance at concerts and festivals both in Poland (Spring Break, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Męskie Granie) and abroad (Tallinn Music Week, Seasplash Festival).
Their “zero” album RAT combines dub, hip-hop and electronica. The so-called proper debut, Rok Szczura (Kayax), goes much further – here rave, euro-house and rat knows what else appear on the palette. The newest album will be released soon and will be entitled Winogrady – in honour of the Poznań district where Witek and Paweł grew up (and where they have their production and ideas room and… a piece of basketball pitch). There will also be many interesting guests on the album. The first single / video promoting the new material is Grzyby with guest appearance by Mera Spolsky. Another sneak peek is DMT (featuring RAU), a track illustrated with a video like few (or none). There are many other interesting guests on the album, and a lot of new material can be heard during current concerts.
