About Queen Alaska
Composer, producer, vocalist and audiovisual artist Anneli Bentler uses analogue synthesizers, drum machines, vocal cuttings and her fine sense for harmonic structures to bring into being an eclectic landscape of sounds called Queen Alaska.
Her electronic, spherical pop songs have their roots in classical music and score music, which Bentler combines with modern production, sound design and songwriting. Influences in a range from Steve Reich to Niki and the Dove bring to life accessible yet complex songs, fragile yet powerful, dreamy yet danceable. The arrangement of the many synth layers generates the impact of a classical orchestra. This way, Queen Alaska’s music is artistic and pop at the same time.
The name Queen Alaska resonates with the width, beauty and clarity of a magnificent, majestic landscape. Its bright colours and reflections of mountains in a deep lake convey the impression of inner peace and unwavering strength at the same time. The northern lights are a miracle that makes you feel closer to the universe than to earth. Queen Alaska sits enthroned above the everyday world and personifies these sensual associations.
Anneli Bentler creates her graphics and music videos on her own, in order to translate the abstract world into a holistic, audiovisual concept.
