Punkt. Vrt. Plastik

The name? Let Petter Eldh, the bassist with this remarkable new trio, explain. “Punkt means ‘dot’ in Swedish. Vrt means ‘garden’ in Slovenian. Christian represents the Plastik.” All clear? The music will make it so. At 30 years old, Kaja Draksler is already the most famous Slovenian jazz musician outside the borders of her native land. Since moving from Ljubljana to Holland, first to university in Groningen and then to her present home in Amsterdam, she has become one of the most admired pianists of the new generation, with an open approach that is also displayed in her compositions. This new combination finds her collaborating with two highly respected Berlin residents: Eldh, the near-ubiquitous Swedish bassist, and the drummer Christian Lillinger, both bringing their great originality to bear on a three-way conversation of equal voices.
