Prague Theater Festival of the German Language 2025

The 30th Prague German Language Theatre Festival will take place from 15 November to 11 December 2025.

The Prague Theater Festival of the German Language 2025 is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. From November 15 to December 11, it will present a selection of notable German-language productions from the repertoires of renowned theaters. These include SchauSpielHaus Wien, Theater Basel, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, and Thalia Theater Hamburg. A theater trip is also planned, this time to Berlin's Volksbühne.

The festival will also feature the winning production of this year's Josef Balvín Award, the traditional Open Call for graduates of German-language theater academies, and a rich off-program of performances, readings, workshops, and conferences.

And because the organizers believe that the festival has been bringing support, hope, and comfort for thirty years, and that this is more than necessary today, they have chosen a simple but profound word as this year's motto: “trost” – comfort.

German-language performances are presented with Czech subtitles.
