Polárka is a professional theatre for children and youth, based in Brno since 1999. It is focused on children from the youngest (under three years of age) up to high school and university students.
Its repertoire covers many different forms and genres of theatre, in order to give the young spectators the widest possible overview of what “theatre” can mean. Polárka declares itself as the spectator’s “guide to theatre adulthood”, strives to cultivate their relationship to theatre as a specific form of art and expression. It tries to teach them to recognise true artistic quality and to reflect it consciously. At the same time, the intention is to use the language of theatre to communicate important topics to children and young people in an understandable form, to support them in their orientation in the world.
Polárka offers plays as well as different kinds of programs for young children and their families, for teenage spectators, as well as for adults. You may visit an imaginative fairy-tale as well as an “adult” drama, we also produce special events for many different opportunities, often based on our theatre music group Polaris.
