The Mediterranean monologues tell of people taking the risky route across the Mediterranean, hoping to live safely in Europe, of Libyan Coast Guards, Italian Lifeboards and German authorities who prevent it, and of activists dying to oppose something on the Mediterranean.

These activists, as volunteers at the Alarmphone, convince the Coast Guards to rescue people in distress or learn to save people from drowning at Seawatch - in short, they do the most obvious thing, but in 2019, anything but natural: human life too rescue!

It is as if the actors directly address the people in the audience, shake hands with them and draw them into a world that will no longer leave the audience cold: entangled, devouring, connected and networked with the protagonists of Mittelmeer Monologe the audience follows the ways of the stories eagerly.

When the actors whisper, keep silent, gently throw a word into the room, get louder now and then, raising their voices demanding or angry, almost screaming, then the sounds do not penetrate abstractly to the audience, then the audience becomes quite direct and in all its corporeality, hit and touched by what has been said. When the actress looks at the audience, it becomes involved in what she knows and believes that it really happened.

The play will be performed in German with English, Arabic and French surtitles.
