Dafa Puppet Theatre: Play of nothing

Dafa Puppet Theatre is a multiple award-winning puppet theatre company working between Europe, Arab world and Asia. Co-founded by Husam Abed - a theatre director, puppeteer and musician -and Reka Deak - stage designer and puppeteer - Dafa Puppet Theatre has performed and created puppet performances and given puppet art, storytelling and theatrical workshops all over the world and was able to reach, empower and impact hundreds of refugees, children and adults. Furthermore, Dafa Puppet Theatre produces contemporary (puppet) theatre performances to inspire communities, highlight social issues, spark dialogue around the refugee crisis and connect across cultural differences.

Dafa Puppet Theatre earns its money through performances, workshops, talks and theatre labs across Europe and the Middle East, and right now these are either called off, cancelled or on hold. We are unsure if we are able to perform and for how long we can make our ends meet while COVID-19 continues to sweep the earth. We are trying to come up with inventive ways and collaborations to cope with the current situation. However, we have little clue about what the coming weeks and months will look like. It’s tough for us since there's nothing set up for us, however, we are always trying to employ our creativity and resources to find new ways to keep people connected. And that’s going to help us and hopefully you will too!
