A novel by Andrej Platonov, a forgotten jewel of Russian literature from the interwar period. In 1917, young Shasha Dvanov is charged to perform a research on the settlement of communism in Russian countryside. The young commissar crosses his paths with a list of characters of sick humanity whose only need is to lay next to somebody at night to avoid the feeling of loneliness. How could life look like in the first days of communism?
