Popular French playwright Yasmina Reza serves up a bittersweet emotional bomb in God of Carnage, which was adapted for the silver screen in Roman Polanski's Carnage. It all starts with a sensible, measured conversation between two married couples who have met to write up a statement about their children's fight in the park. It is extremely courteous and amusing, but each successive word spoken from the stage brings the audience closer to the moment when the characters' masks of tolerance and decency fall and the titular 'god of carnage' shows his true face.
