Placido Domingo, the world-famous tenor, returns to Poland with a Christmas concert. He will perform with the Krakow Sinfonietta Cracovia Orchestra. Placido Domingo, or rather Jose Placido Domingo Embil, was born on 21 January 1941 in Madrid. Domingo’s parents were also musicians and ensured that the young Domingo would receive musical education. He debuted in 1961 in the lead role, at the National Opera in the role of Traviat Verdi, as Alfred, and quickly began his international career. He has performed in leading theatres and opera houses around the world, including La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and Covent Garden in London. His debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York took place in 1968 and since then he has performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York every season. He opened the season twenty times, celebrated his eight-hundredth performance in 2012 and has played 46 roles at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
