From November 2022 to January 2023, the Komische Oper Berlin will stage the play Pippi Longstocking. The performance is suitable for children from the age of six.

Pippi Longstocking is the strongest girl in the world! Her roommates are called Mr. Nilsson and little uncle and are a monkey and a horse. No wonder Tommy and Annika from next door think this is so great that they sometimes forget about dinner...

Pippi Longstocking moves into Villa Kunterbunt. Her daddy, Captain Efraim Longstocking, was lost at sea during their last adventure together, and now she wants to wait for him here. The neighbor children Annika and Tommy quickly make friends with this girl who is so fearless and doesn't want to fit into any pigeonhole: she doesn't like it at school, nor does she want to be put into a children's home. Even a coffee party at the neighbors' house makes her burst with fame. Pippi has everything she needs for life: an almost endless imagination plus the clear will to have fun together with Annika and Tommy.

Actress and singer Dagmar Manzel changes sides for the first time and makes her debut as a director with Pippi Longstocking. In Astrid Lindgren she has found a sister in spirit who probably packs more wisdom into her children's books than many a philosopher. More than 75 years old, but not a day older: the play with the supposedly oh-so-important conventions and rules and the appeal of being on your own as a child still inspire everyone today, young and old alike.
