Pinch

Rob Ellis, better known as Pinch, is a dubstep artist from Bristol, United Kingdom, noted for his fusion of styles such as reggae, world music, and dancehall with dubstep. He is a DJ, producer, and founder of the labels Tectonic Recordings and Cold Recordings as well as the Subload event series.

Pinch's first album, Underwater Dancehall, was released in 2007 through Tectonic Records. One of his best-known tracks is Qawwali, which appeared on Planet Mu Records and draws references to the devotional singing style with the same name, featuring samples of a harmonium and singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. His tracks appear on compilations such as Box of Dub: Dubstep and Future Dub 2 (Soul Jazz Records) or Science Faction: Dubstep (Breakbeat Science Recordings).

More recently he has moved away from dubstep towards the UK bass scene, working with producers such as Mumdance and Adrian Sherwood.
