Lecture by Urszula Król accompanying the exhibition "Józef Brandt 1841-1915". Brandt was fascinated by the history of the Borderlands of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He shared this love with many other Polish writers and painters of the 19th century: Goszczyński, Zaleski, Słowacki, Sienkiewicz, Kossak. In their imagination, the culture of these lands has become the quintessence of Polishness, full of fantasy of knight's tradition and love of freedom.
