"Clouds are quite universal, everyone can relate to them. By putting them indoors you kind of change the context. It can become strange or even threatening. They can stand in for the divine, but also for misfortune," Berndaut Smilde.

Just like last year, Signal Festival is preparing a unique project in Prague‘s Church of the Holy Saviour. A simulation of weather indoors by four young contemporary Czech artists. How will they manage to get the outdoor environment inside the building? The central object of the performance is a cloud of smoke, which will change with the help of lights and physical processes and which will also create alternating moods along with music.

Let the creators break you free from the mundaneity of the city. To ascend and immerse in images, shapes, associations or echoes of natural elements and phenomena. The moment of loneliness in the landscape can lead to a strong experience, to the moment of enlightenment, reconciliation or meditation. Artists will guide you to the border between art, light, music and inner landscape. You will be tempted, calm down, stop, think, awake. And then you will be abandoned. Thankfully.

Creators of the project:

  • Tereza Bartůňková, who after completing her master studies of scenography at DAMU in Prague, devotes herself to art projects in various fields. She eclectically floats between the world of illustration, theater and music. She collaborates on projects in leading Czech theaters and in smaller experimental venues. She likes to express herself through the medium of light, with the help of which she creates an ephemeral atmosphere that can bring viewers into the inner landscape of their own subconscious.
  • Štěpán Hejzlar is one of the main technicians and stage designers in the Alta performance space. He focuses on light, sound and poetic arrangement of technical elements in the context of theater. He has also collaborated on music events such as Silent Night.
  • Oliver Torr is an audiovisual artist living in Prague and co-founder of the XYZ collective. He adopted an alternative approach to sound while studying in London, where he began to perceive music in a wider spectrum of audiovisual art.
  • Ondřej Merta (nona rec, xyz, bastl) is a musician and preacher based on the environment of industrial solitude.
